During this years summer holidays in Austria, we were not that far from the private Helmut Pfeifhofer Porsche Museum in Gmünd in Kärnten. It’s not a big museum, in one to one and a half hours you can see everything, but it is definately worthwhile visiting when you’re in the area. There are some (early) Porsche engines on display, two wooden body models (365 and 550 Spider), an aluminium 365 body from 1948 (when Ferdinand Porsche built the first handbuild 365 in Gmünd), a 1952 ‘Knickscheibe’ and several 365 convertibles. The latter were mainly bought mid ’80’s and originate from Texas or from California.
